INSTALLATION
How to Install
INSTALLING CEILING ROSES & CEILING CENTRES
Crafted for heritage homes. Installed with care.
Important Safety Note
Electrical safety comes first.
Before any installation begins, a licensed electrician must isolate the light circuit. This allows the wiring to be safely passed through the centre of the ceiling rose once mounted.
Step 1
Surface Preparation
Surface Preparation
Proper preparation ensures a long-lasting bond.
If the ceiling is already painted, lightly roughen the surface using 120–150 grit sandpaper.
Score the perimeter area lightly with a sharp blade or apply a bonding agent (such as Bondcrete) to promote adhesion.
For new plaster ceilings, no preparation is generally required.
Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free from dust, flaking paint, or loose material.
Step 2
Adhesive Mixing
Adhesive Mixing
Prepare a high-quality cornice cement or plaster adhesive according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Mix to a smooth, workable consistency — not too runny, not too stiff.
Step 3
Applying the Adhesive
Applying the Adhesive
Apply adhesive evenly around the rear outer edge of the ceiling rose. Avoid overloading — excess adhesive can squeeze out and create unnecessary cleanup.
Step 4
Positioning the Ceiling Rose
Positioning the Ceiling Rose
Carefully lift the ceiling rose into position, feeding the electrical wiring through the center opening. Press firmly and hold in place for several minutes to allow the adhesive to grab.
Step 5
Mechanical Fixing & Support
Mechanical Fixing & Support
Secure the ceiling rose using two to three screws into a ceiling joist or batten.
Lightly prop the rose from the floor until the adhesive sets.
Always use a soft buffer (towel, sponge, or foam) between the prop and the plaster to prevent surface damage.
Step 6
Clean-Up & Finishing
Clean-Up & Finishing
Remove excess adhesive immediately using a damp sponge or small tool. Once fully dry, apply a sealer undercoat before painting. Finish with your chosen topcoat color to match or enhance the ceiling.
